About her Art

I am Gaja and my story lies within these female bodies. I have always held many words that are important for a woman and that are part of my life such as: uniqueness, strength, courage, creation, winning, being extroverted, beauty, sunshine, determination, listening, sensuality, positivity, scars, sorrelance, light and peace, in fact my art speaks of the world of the way I see things and how this affects me emotionally by meeting two sides of the coin, one is the frontal version of the woman’s body and the second side is represented by the woman’s back.
The back side of the woman symbolises the challenges, which I like to call the scars, because they represent a way of perceiving the person I am now and all that I have faced and what I have learned from them: bullying at school, depression, verbal and physical harassment and to recognise my uncle as a father figure and to let go of the biological one.
The front part is rebirth a new era where my past remains past and makes me feel alive and beautiful internally where there is peace after a long time and all this is reflected externally and I feel like shouting: ‘win, courage, determination and sorrow with my little Gaja’.
My paintings also speak of listening and sensuality, which does not mean being sexy, but is the mouthpiece of self-assertion. For listening I imagine the woman dancing and I let her body speak for her and I listen to what she communicates to me and I go to accentuate the black lines where I feel there is dynamism, for sensuality I give volume to the woman’s forms in her breasts and legs because when the woman walks she gives her impression of uniqueness.
