A student of Giorgio Di Genova, she obtained her degree from the Academy of Fine Arts, Painting section in '84 and specialized in the figure, working with the model at the Free School of the Nude in Catania.
She began her career as a painter immediately after her studies, finally fulfilling her greatest desire, which was to paint and become an artist.
She has always alternated her passion for writing with art criticism for young talents, often publishing in trade journals, organizing exhibitions and events as President of the cultural association 51 Pegasi Dimensione Donna, founded together with other female artists from Catania.
From presenter of radio and television shows, to her latest performances in theater with the COMPANY “Terre forti” with “Belisa” by Federico Garcia Lorca in dialect and “Lirica” a collection of Sicilian folk songs by Lionardo Vigo, she is a multifaceted artist and organizer of exhibitions and events, but with a difficult and troubled life, plagued by various illnesses; this led her to seek a more peaceful life and she became involved in the school sector, earning a specialization at the University of Messina for support teaching.
Included in the NATIONAL RANKING at State Academies, she chose the state secondary school. Specialized in the figure and the nude, over the years she has conducted various researches that led her to create her own TRILOGY of BEING, explained in her upcoming book to be released in bookstores “Emotional Deliriums in a Hotchpotch of Absorbed Thoughts”.
Today she is a teacher at the state secondary school where she has been involved in creativity and expressiveness courses for students.
Over the years her artistic activity has achieved significant critical success and many critics have written about her, including Fiore Torrisi, Carmelo Strano, Maurizio Vanni, Vittorio Sgarbi, Francesco Giordano, Sergio Collura with whom she has established a friendly relationship for several years, becoming the singer of her soul in the various and articulated exhibitions in the area, up to Floriano De Santis who is curating the next catalog. And what about Giovanna Giordano, candidate for the Nobel Prize for Literature, who recounted her period of violated Barbies with her evil people and the women who still dream.
The body and flesh were the natural elements of her painting until the “rosarossa” was born and a new path in her art began to feed also on verses. The encounter with the poetry and madness of Alda Merini marked a turning point in her inner journey and the artist began to coin her “emotional deliriums,” writing them and fixing them on canvas out of an urgent need of her soul that was changing forever.
Her particularly dramatic intimate experiences led her to approach computers, where she would isolate herself to write her pain in a rush until the desire to “reveal herself,” with no literary pretensions but with the need to tell her story so that her story, with her first autobiographical novel (“The House of Stolen Adolescence” Akkuaria Editions) could become a valid help to many women who do not have the courage to tell their own violence, their own lack and hunger for love, pain, illnesses, wickedness, denied and frustrating sexuality to a violated and massacred body... also tormented by a false respectability steeped in a Sicily of another time, careful not to offend only collective consciences.
In 2012 she signed the manifesto of Alienism, as founder of a new current of thought based on a new Renaissance of intellect and painting.
After two years of expressive silence on canvas and healing of her soul, Maria Tripoli resumes her journey in pictorial art, coloring with new colors the themes of her heart and beginning a new vigorous and eloquent page of her strong and mature soul that speaks the universal language of art.
Her trilogy of being can be summed up in three words: ART, LOVE, and PASSION, virus and vector of the person reborn to new enthusiasms in a freedom of soul and senses that makes the artist's creative journey unique because it is in unison with her life.
