About his Art
Aurelio Bruni was born in Blera (VT) on October 15, 1955.
He lives and works in Umbria. He graduated in Scenography from the Art Institute of Spoleto and from the age of 19 began systematically painting in oils, practically self-taught since this technique was not practiced at school.
At the same time, he worked as a musician, after graduating in Trombone from the "F. Morlacchi" Conservatory of Music in Perugia.
His passion for painting prevails and with a certain continuity he organizes and participates in group and solo exhibitions which to this day are numerous and increasingly projected beyond national borders.
Bruni's painting stems from surrealist roots but over time moves towards a lyrical and symbolic intimacy, supported by a polish of line and a refined preciousness and value of detail. Animated and inanimate objects acquire equal dignity and the almost hyperreal and mannerist rendering of their external "matter" is only the veil behind which, on a deeper reading, one can glimpse the essence of their soul.
Bruni's stylistic virtuosity is such that he manages to describe in minute detail the material consistency of the depicted elements, even suggesting their tactile-visual sensations: the cold and finely polished surfaces of sculpted marbles, the wrinkled peels of citrus fruits contrasted with the smooth and shiny ones of apples, the silky effects of brocades, the worn pages of a dusty book, the sparkling brightness of gold or metals, the diaphanous sheen of water and tears, the voluminous softness of hair, the transparency of glass on which objects are reflected.
Multifaceted, refined and sensitive, solitary, reflective and prolific is the soul of Aurelio Bruni, nourished by the splendor of art and the harmony of music. With the courage of consistency, the artist pursues his own expressive research to offer a possible key to interpreting reality, thus suggesting a meaning to give to this multifaceted and troubled present.
