About his Art

For Guccione, the artistic journey began in the 1990s when he came into contact with the Hip Hop movement, and in particular with the world of graffiti, which was just taking its first steps in Italy. It was a period of discovery in which the power of communication on walls was becoming apparent and there was a sense of urgency to develop a personal style. The internet was not yet so popular and the style had to make an impact while maintaining anonymity. Over time, his art moved from walls to other techniques, following a natural path influenced by various factors: a personal interest in art history, artistic studies at D.A.M.S. in Bologna, the study of music, and professional experience as an advertising graphic designer. His curiosity about traditional fine art techniques led him, as a self-taught artist, to delve deeper into what he instinctively felt could help him define his own style. Painting with a brush first on plasterboard and then on canvas, collage, engraving and screen printing techniques, pencil drawing and watercolor; all this led Guccione to develop his own technique of working iron plates with paints and rust. Alongside his portraiture (jazz but not only), he also develops projects with a more decorative and universal character. Thus, the concept of W.HOW was born with the aim of promoting an interactive approach stimulated by combinatorial games of shapes and colors. Since 2009, he has exhibited as THE ORIGINAL DAVE GUCCIONE, a name he later changed to DAVE GUCCIONE VISUAL when he decided to make it his professional activity. Over time, he has exhibited his works in various contexts, both group and solo exhibitions, and at art fairs. He has collaborated with jazz clubs and music festivals such as Veneto Jazz and Vicenza Jazz, has personally set up exhibitions in Soul and Rhythm and Blues music contexts, also creating limited edition screen print series specifically for these events.
