Born in Boretto (Re), she soon leaves her hometown, carrying with her her roots and the never-forgotten atmospheres of the place where she was born.
She moved to Rome in the 1970s.
Until then self-taught, she met the abstract painter Masciangioli and became his pupil for several years.
This period was crucial for acquiring the technique that would lead her to achieve great coloristic harmony, while remaining in a context of dreamlike abstraction.
Her works are part of private collections both in Italy and abroad.
THE CRITIQUE
The expert, in the presence of her works, observes that for her the subject is not the only protagonist, but it is the whole of the work that takes on equal importance.
Technique is an important component and Bertani shows great mastery of it. The interweaving of planes of color applied in rapid succession cancels out sharp contrasts and translates onto the canvas the instantaneous and changing effects of visual perception.
It is reality that plays at confusing itself with what has been in memories and reworked in the soul. The silence of a lake, the color of the sun through the treetops, the soft and intimate light of a streetlamp in the darkness of a sleeping city, the essence of a lived nature, emotions lost in time, a time that, stopped on the canvas, whispers in our ear "This was, this is my flash of lived experience!”
Emotions, poetry told with the brush, sometimes soft and warm, sometimes harsh and engaging, just like our daily life experienced according to the thousand inner sensations that cross our minds. Almost instinctively, the artist uses the language of abstract expressionism, without ever completely breaking down the subjects, enveloping them in homogeneous colorations that create the all-encompassing atmosphere of the pictorial narrative.
Painted poems, told with sure and nuanced brushstrokes, with verses of color always written in an intimate key to compose stanzas designed to stimulate the senses of the human soul. Thus, a simple subject becomes a message of sensations that we keep in our subconscious and that the artist brings back to mind. As can be seen, Bertani's works are for refined palates, that is, for those who, with sensitivity, can grasp the intimate and enveloping message that the artist consciously gives us.
