About his Art

Roberto FRANCHITTI. Born in Rome on July 14, 1955.
His Molisan roots ensure that the human-scale relationship with the province remains a constant that is indispensable for relationships and comparisons with the simple and genuine territory.
He studies in Rome and graduates in architecture, dedicating almost exclusively his education to experimentation and research in the creative field, driven by an innate curiosity for everything that has a hint of novelty to be explored.
A pencil and a support, sometimes improvised, are the companions that have accompanied his expressive vein since birth.
A self-taught fantasist, he moves from life drawings of monuments to surveys of architectural structures, to improvised caricatures in the street, to hypothetical cartoons and satirical vignettes, to clay modeling, without neglecting manual work for wood engraving and more.
He enters the working world and collaborates for many years with the studio of a well-known Roman architect.
In this way, he is able to exercise his creativity, moving from building design to urban planning studies, to the setup of television sets both indoors and outdoors, to the design of furniture and furnishings, to the setup of exhibitions and displays for art.
He returns to the Molisan province to settle there as his main residence.
He begins a completely independent professional life.
Always keeping a touch of self-irony alive and the desire never to take himself too seriously, he cultivates a vocation for imagination understood as a solution to preconceptions and established things.
He holds positions in public administration.
Last but not least, he dedicates himself to experiences in the field of design, creating furniture in wood or metal as well as jewelry and accessory objects for everyday use.
He is accompanied by a dormant and barely concealed inclination for creativity that manages to question prejudices and preconceptions, seeking in something else what seems obvious and already established.
The step towards more visceral art seems as short as it is inevitable.
What has been experienced is not denied and it is precisely from experience
lived that a creative vision of release from rules and regulations arises; the path taken influences its expression: what has been known is rediscovered from a different, off-center angle, able to observe what was previously simply seen.
