About Her Art

I would define my art as harmonious, it momentarily rebalances the vision of my unbalanced essence.

I am a contemporary artist based wherever I find myself.

I studied at the Polytechnic University of Turin in the Faculty of Architecture, then I completed my training at the Nad Academy in Interior Design.

I don't know who I am and I have spent my whole life searching for myself. I love seeing the world, taking new paths and discovering new lands; traveling complements the search for myself.

For example, my latest experience in Thailand allowed me to learn traditional techniques of working with Thai clay. In addition, I acquired skills to build bamboo houses and to use a welder to create artistic iron sculptures.

Traveling alone has revealed mysterious and unforgettable emotions that have led me, and always will, to discover people, cultures, and wonders of nature.

Everything is inspiration, everything is connection, everything is a work of art in its potential state. I don't like boundaries and definitions: I am not a painter, I am not a sculptor, I am nobody.

 DESCRIPTION OF THE ARTISTIC WORK

The direct contact with unknown realities, nature, different cultures, environments, and self-analysis, is reflected in an artistic project that transforms those sensations and emotions into a polished product. The materials and techniques used are different and reflect my adventurous and curious soul. It is a tribute to the beauty we can find in everything that surrounds us.

I don't like boundaries, and my works express the same. I like the simplicity of forms; the works go beyond their own limits, the canvas is no longer framed, but is also free to be form and volume: it becomes something different.

The monumentality of Euclidean geometries with the disordered shapes of the molded materials; order and disorder. It is the material itself that guides me in the artistic process.

Music is one of the main sources of inspiration, for this reason every work has its own music.

 The Critique

"The material, the mark, the non-color, like a return to the origin and to the pure, raw form: this is the sculptural production of Sabrina Barrera. Like a primordial sculpture devoid of perfect and defined forms, of that polish and finish typical of classical sculpture, to return to basic expression. I could define it as a pure exercise of light and shadow, like a dense material chiaroscuro. [...] The great desire for experimentation characterizes the production of this artist, making her capable of creating ever different works, linked together in artistic series, able to tell a story."
