Gidudu Jimmy (born July 20th 1996) native of bugisu in mbale city eastern side of Uganda. A Ugandan based in kampala city at national theater. Professionally is a painter and sculptor having obtained a bachelor’s degree in Art and Design with Education at kyambogo university.

 

His interest in painting started when he was a boy experimenting with crayons, ink from different pen colours, mixed and applied them on bond paper, which were given out as gifts to his friends and family. He was inspired by Kwizera a famous artist in Uganda who motivated him to love and study art at university and considering it as a profession.

 

Since then he has had a professional revolution with much inspiration drawn from his fine art mentor

 

Jimmy’s paintings are mostly in cubism (geometric) ,abstract figurative, realism and surrealism style. The most common theses are music and family life. Music paintings often feature traditional African instruments like the drums, adungu, flute, and other African musical instruments basing on the different tribes in Uganda, he claims that music reflects the happy side of life .sometimes he does portraits of Africans with patterns portraying African spirits, landscape scenes that represent activities or character of a traditional African village mostly on the painful side of life like poverty and diseases. He emphasizes the importance of the African woman in the society, particularly, the mother in Africa .cultural beliefs and values.
