About her Art
I create my artwork to communicate feelings and ideas that cannot
easily be expressed well in words. Using
light and shade, color and movement, I recognize that the control we all want
to exert in our lives is often paired with uncontrollable personal growth and
change.
Alcohol inks require that the artist embrace the
unpredictability of the medium. They can be deep or
transparent. They can be controlled and
sometimes, totally uncontrolled. Each artwork is unique and often unpredictable, which is what
makes creating an alcohol ink painting so exciting for me.
In addition, much of my artwork is painted in reverse on glass or
plexiglass – adding to the challenges
that I explore as I create my vibrant art.
A new adventure begins every day as I start to paint.

The Art Institute of Chicago high
school scholarship program began Katy’s pathway to use the
arts to enhance other's lives and her own. After college graduation, she joined
creative teams, producing award-winning national TV commercials and independent
films for many years.
But teamwork never totally satisfied Katy’s creative needs. She
had been working with acrylics and encaustics when a friend introduced her to
alcohol inks. Katy found her expressive medium.
In 2021, Katy finally began showing her artworks publicly and was
included in one juried in-person group exhibition and one on-line juried
exhibition where she made her first artwork sale.
Since then, The Los Angeles Art Association, the California Art League,
and International Association of Art – USA have included her as a member. She
is a Member Artist at TAG Gallery, Los Angeles.
In 2022, she was selected for 4 in-person juried gallery
exhibitions in Southern California. Katy’s work was also honored with 43 juried
on-line gallery exhibitions.
In 2023, Katy’s month-long solo exhibition, VIVID INK, was presented
at TAG Gallery, Los Angeles.
In June 2023, TERRA FIRMA VIII, Katy’s alcohol ink reverse
painting on plexiglass, is part of the USA Exhibition at The Tokyo Metropolitan
Art Museum.
Global Painting Conclave awarded her the Bronze Award in the
competition Abstract Painting January 2023, for BEYOND, another alcohol ink
reverse painting on glass.
Katy's artworks are in private collections in New York,
Pennsylvania, Palm Springs, Los Angeles, Pasadena, Glendale and Beverly Hills.
