Katarzyna Buczylowska is a Polish artist born in 1982. She
currently works and lives in the UK.
Her adventure with art began in childhood. Her mother is a
professional artist and an art teacher, and Katarzyna has been surrounded by art
and artists since she was a child. Endless discussions in her house about
philosophy, art and artists have had a huge impact on Katarzyna’s interest and
passions.
In her early life, she loved expressing herself through drawing
and dancing. She was a professional Latin dancer as a kid. Her adventure with
dance started when she was 8 years old, and it has become her obsession since.
Her experience with dance has an impact on her artwork, as dance is a huge love
of her life.
Then there was a period of drawing charcoal murals. She drew the
first mural on her brother’s bedroom wall when she was 12 years old. It was her
first large format drawing and it opened her a door for more mural projects in
friend's houses. Furthermore, it was an amazing learning curve and time full of
fun for her.
Katarzyna earned her first pocket money when she was 14 years old
by selling a portrait of a stranger from her secondary school. This experience
began her adventure with drawing a series of portraits for her school
friends. After school she was spending time in her local gallery improving
her drawing and painting skills.
She graduated in Pedagogy and International Relations in Business,
but art has always been the passion of her life. After graduating from
University in Poznań, Katarzyna started working as an HR specialist, but
shortly after ending this employment she decided to immigrate to the UK,
looking for something different in her life.
As she is a caring person, interested in people and health, she
found a job in healthcare sector, but in the meantime she was also developing
her dancing and panting skills. She joined the best salsa clubs in the UK and
painting classes in the evenings. She continued painting for herself as she
realized that dancing and painting won’t feed her. Furthermore, she invested
her time in learning photography, Photoshop, Illustrator, HTML, CSS and
JavaScript. She was appointed as a director of GBUIT Services Limited company
providing information technology consultancy and photography services. After 4
years, the company was dissolved and Katarzyna decided to stand up in front of
a canvas again, and make her dream of being a painter come true. She feels true
self when she paints and draws. It was a year of her new series of paintings.
Her artworks reveal stories, thoughts and emotions of people she
paints. She loves creating portraits, as she has always been interested
generally in human and human psychology. She thinks every person is unique and
interesting inside and out, with a story behind beauty, wrinkles, scars etc.
Her art is also inspired by her inner world, full of emotions, as she is a deep
thinker. You can also find in her art dance theme. Katarzyna also loves to
paint abstracts, as this is the form which she loves to express her emotions
in. She adores a great German artist, Gerhard Richter, who is her inspiration.
Katarzyna uses oil and acrylic paints on canvas, and she also
experiments with collage and henna on canvas. Recently, she has been interested
in NFT artwork, and she started selling her art on an NFT platforms.
