Sulla sua Arte
I have been living and painting the
Pembrokeshire scenery, both land and coast, for many years and finally retired
here seven years ago. I take my
inspiration from the world around me and am particularly fond of urban scenes
as I feel their hidden beauty is overlooked by the stunning scenery further
afield. I like to think that an artist’s role is to make people aware of this
beauty which they might overlook as they go about their hum drum lives.
I was completely self-taught until I
enrolled on an art course for three years and then I moved on to doing an
Access course at Carmarthen College of Art. As this happened during a lockdown,
I was constricted to the surroundings of Tenby, where I live, and anything
within a five-mile radius, hence numerous paintings of Manorbier and Tenby. I
also embraced digital art and am now producing digital prints both original and
limited editions. There is a wide selection on my website but I do commissions
if you can’t find what you are looking for there.
I lived in Spain, Granada and Italy, Milan
for a total of twenty years working as an English teacher and my work has a
vibrancy to it which I attribute to my exposure to the light there and the
bright colours of the environment and
was pleased to find the digital palette allows me to create even more vibrant
works. These are printed either on card, canvas or aluminium, which, by the way
is one of the most environmentally friendly metals owing to its ease of
recycling.
I have had several exhibitions , including
VC Gallery in Haverford West, Oriel y Parc in St David’s, Stackpole walled
gardens, Queen Street gallery, Neath and am a constant contributor to Oriel Q
Narberth members shows, where I volunteer and am on the committee.
